Annual General Meeting
DR. NEIL GARDNER IS NEW PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JAMAICAN OLYMPIANS | |
Kingston, Jamaica… Dr. Neil Gardner has been elected President of the National Association of Jamaican Olympians (NAJO) during the Association’s Annual General Meeting, held on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Gardner, who represented Jamaica at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA, was a semi-finalist in the 400m hurdles and ranked among the top 10 performers globally in that event during that year. He succeeds Marvin Anderson as President. Joining Dr. Gardner on the new executive team are Toni-Ann Williams as Vice President, Cathy Rattray Samuel as General Secretary, and Allan Marsh as Treasurer. The executive committee also includes Aleen Bailey, Kaliese Spencer Carter, Vilma Charlton, Christine Day, Winthrop Graham, Zara Northover, Garth Robinson and Ruth Williams Simpson. Gardner expressed heartfelt gratitude for the confidence placed in him and the newly elected executive team. He emphasized the importance of hitting the ground running and announced plans to convene the first meeting promptly to chart the way forward. Dr. Gardner brings a wealth of experience to his new role. A Chiropractic Neurologist, he combines his athletic expertise with a pioneering approach to healthcare through his Sports Neurology Therapeutic Programme. He operates Gardner Chiropractic and Neurology in Kingston. The National Association of Jamaican Olympians, formerly known as the Olympians Association of Jamaica (OAJ), was established in 2004, a decade after the founding of the World Olympians Association. NAJO is comprised exclusively of athletes who have competed for Jamaica at the Olympic Games. The Association is dedicated to uniting and representing Olympians, advocating for their interests, and promoting the values of Olympism in Jamaica. |
